What’s summertime in the city without a fabulous finale? Join DC in commemorating Ottawa’s 2009 Capital Pride Celebration from August 21-30.  The flags are flying, the confetti is poised to drop, and thousands of people are pumped for what is shaping up as the community’s ultimate soiree. 

As one of Canada’s most visible LGBTQ pride events, Ottawa’s festivities inspire and electrify long before our unity parade past Parliament Hill and the Supreme Court.  Among the most anticipated is the Lesbian Information Xchange’s [LIX] wildly popular Proud Chicks Dance Party, held this year on Friday, August 28.  Tickets for this premier ladies bash sell fast, so be sure to glean all of the info on DC’s calendar pages.  And.... if you sign up over the next week on Dorothy's Closet mailing list, your name will be entered into our draw for a pair of free tickets!!

This month, it’s all about honouring – ourselves, our icons, our pioneers, and our everyday heroes who break down civil barriers simply by being.  This month, it’s all about pride, and Dorothy is among the proudest.  This month, we encourage our cherished readers to shine and revel in who they are.  If you’re able, support an LGBTQ-owned or friendly business.  Strut your stuff and assets, no matter if you’re on Bank Street or in the boonies.  Flaunt your unique flair at any or all of the area’s marches, vigils, fairs, and fierce drag shows.  With 24-hour pride coverage and rainbow-hued points of view, Dorothy’s Closet wishes you a wonderful, spirit-filled celebration.
