| 6. A Book of Spells: Two Women’s Lives Changed - Thursday, April 16th |
Ottawa Story Tellers are proud to present two of Ottawa’s best and most adventurous storytellers, Jan Andrews and Jennifer Cayley in the final show of their 2009 Ontario tour of ‘A Book of Spells’. We see the glory of the early days and then the bitter struggles involved in learning how to live together. What makes the show utterly unique is the way the relationship is explored and illumined through the power of two stories of magic realism by the English writer, Sara Maitland: one about the witch in Hansel and Gretel turned abortionist, still there in the forest through all the ages; the other about a young woman nursing a baby who finds means to fly. The show goes from Ottawa direct to Wales.
